Biography and Testimony of Cory Casey, Director of Camp P82:

Cory is a 1994 graduate of Springdale High School in Springdale, Arkansas.  He holds a bachelors degree in Education from John Brown University and a Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Cory was married to Susan Carrender in August of 2000 and has two children by the names of Rylee and Gardner.  Cory and his family served in the Middle East from 2005-2009 in the area of sports and sports ministry.  Cory’s wife currently is a special education teacher in Camdenton, MO.  Cory joined the Sports Crusaders in June of 2010 and is currently the Director of At-Risks and International Ministries.

Cory's focus is primarily on outreach to students who are considered “at –risk” based upon a variety of factors.   Another focus  is to coordinate and lead teams overseas to work with local missionaries and share Christ through doing sports evangelism.

Personal vision and ministry focus:  My particular position with the crusaders is one which allows me to focus my attention and energies in the areas to which God has given me a great passion.  God has given me a heart to reach disadvantaged youth.  This has been a passion of mine for many years and God is leading me too work in ways to reach these children and youth for Him as well as reaching out to their parents.  This is an outreach I feel strongly about whether it is here in the states or overseas.  “Provide justice for the needy and the fatherless; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.  Rescue the poor and the needy; save them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalms 82: 3-4)

God has worked in a mighty way since we have returned to  the states, He is always faithful, and is now calling me to take the next step and start a ministry designed to reach the kind of students I previously mentioned.  The specific focus will be students who are children of prisoners.  There is an overwhelming amount of students throughout the state and country who fall into this category and are being overlooked in many ways by society.  The vision God has given me is to start a ministry in which these students are located, contacted and given an opportunity to come to a camp designed and designated to reach them in a compassionate, but structured environment.  Sports, both traditional and non-traditional outdoor methods, will be used as a means to reach and teach these students' life virtues.  The primary focus of this ministry will be to share the love of Christ with the students and to teach them God’s word, for Christ is ultimately the only one that can truly change lives from the inside out.

This ministry currently serves in partnership with the Sports Crusaders for  purpose of using sports and camp recreation  as a means to reach people for Christ.  As the ministry and camp is developed, it would be used to host mission trainings, church events, family retreats, sports tournaments, as well as a variety of other uses.  God is great!  He calls us to be obedient and He will bless according to His will for His glory!  We will start as God opens doors and move only as He provides!
